Happy New Year

This is last post for 2009. We found 0.45 HRK today, so the first year of DYWTAMP will end with 69.20 HRK in stake money. It all started on March 1, 2009. And it is all achieved with finding lost assets.

Finding lost assets will continue to be main activity for DYWTAMP in 2010 as well. It would be great if I manage to complete Step 7 during 2010.

Happy New Year!

Step 21: 2,560,000.00 - 5,000,000.00

Official currency for DYWTAMP remains Croatian kuna (HRK). At least until euro become official currency in Croatia.

New Rules

I prepared new set of rules that will better reflect the fact that the focus of this project is on finding lost assets. Here they are...

Rule 1. You must start this project from absolutely nothing.
Rule 2. Finding lost assets is the only activity that is allowed in this project.
Rule 3. You are not allowed to process found assets in any way, you can only sell them as you find them.
Rule 4. You are allowed to add your labor and your equipment when searching for lost assets.
Rule 5. If your current step results in more than doubling, then you must carry the surplus onto the next step.
Rule 6. You are not allowed to spend one cent of the project's money.
Rule 7. You must keep a diary of events.

Money spot

Today we found 1.70 HRK near parking meter at the shopping center where we go very often. Many times we find money at the exactly same spot. This is certainly one of those money spots for us. Everybody can find one of those money spots. It is everywhere where people pay something, and especially where they had to insert coins in different machines. Parking meters, arcade machines, kiddie rides etc. Great places to look for lost money.

Nice Find

Today we made a nice find - 1.85 HRK. We found that money during a short, easy walk in our neighborhood. It was spread in three different locations. We didn't made such find for a long time. Few days ago we also found three plastic bottles. I decided to add that as well to my DYWTAMP. I can redeem it for 1.50 HRK.

I also figured that I never logged 1.00 NOK my daughter and I found few weeks ago, so I added that to DYWTAMP found assets. According to Oanda.com it's current value is 0.87 HRK. As always with foreign currency I will add it to the stake once I exchange it to Croatian currency (the official currency of DYWTAMP).

I'm working on rewriting the rules of DYWTAMP to better express the fact that the only activity I do for DYWTAMP is finding lost assets.

What is Treasure Hunting

I found this interesting article about treasure hunting...

What is Treasure Hunting

Author: Peter Bankss

Treasure hunting is a rather contagious pastime. For some, it can become an obsession (in the best sense of the word!). People worldwide are fascinated with the hobby of treasure hunting.

Coming across a valuable item in your treasure hunt can be a real thrill. Even an item that may not have monetary value could be personally attractive to the right hunter.Part of the thrill is in the chase; not knowing what you may find lends a sense of mystery and intrigue to the treasure hunt.

In years past, a treasure hunt could have been a very dangerous quest. Pirating was rampant, with several competitive and devious hunters often after the same prize. Quite often, the myth or rumor of a valuable buried or sunken treasure led to bloodshed and fighting between hunters.

Before airplanes became the preferred method of worldwide travel, those in search of life in a new land would travel by ship to their new destination. As it could take months to sail from one continent to another, passengers were unsure if they would even return to their home land. They would pack up all of their worldly possessions to take with them to the ‘new world’. One might pack several trunks of furs, coins, jewelry, dishware, and other valuable goods to take with them to their new life.

These ships laden with valuable items were prime targets for pirates.Ships were always on the look out for pirates that may try to board and rob, or even kill, the passengers onboard. While this high seas robbery is certainly not called treasure hunting, it demonstrates just how vulnerable these ‘treasures’ were. People traveling away from home were not only vulnerable to theft while sailing; these pirates had no qualms about robbing a ship after a natural disaster struck.

Ships sailing far from home had to endure terrible storms, barrier reefs, extremely high waves and more as they slowly made their way from one point to the next. Unfortunately, many ships succumbed to the dangers they faced, and sank.

Before GPS and radio, it was really anyone’s guess where they ship may have gone down. Tales and fables would develop about the location of the sunken ship and its possible contents. For example, if a royal family member or businessman was on board, one might assume that quite a bit of valuable merchandise sank with the ship.

If the ship was not immediately located, an air of mystery would develop around the tale as it was passed down through generations of curious people. Those will the resources and desire would undoubtedly go in search of the ship in an effort to recover some of the ‘treasures’ on board. These expeditions were treasure hunts in the truest sense of the word!

A treasure may also be something that a person unfortunately lost. Of course, if you find a valuable item, you should make every attempt to return it to its rightful owner. But in most cases, the owner is never found, leaving the treasure hunter as the new owner. We’ll discuss great places to find this kind of treasure a little later on, but some items that you could expect to come across include watches, rings, coins, or necklaces.

Other treasures may have been worthless when they were disposed of, but have now become so rare or desirable that they have increased in value. Arrowheads from battles past; carvings; certain stones, etc can all prove to be valuable finds.

Before there were designated garbage dumps, unwanted items were often buried or simply thrown into the bush. Over time, these items were long forgotten. However, finding a rare dish, for example, that can be traced to a certain crafter or era could be a real treasure.

Some treasures may have absolutely no monetary value at all, but could be very sentimentally valuable to the right person. Old family photos, a favorite teddy bear, or a letter from your first love would all be great treasures to find. It would rare to stumble across a sentimental treasure unless you were specifically looking for it, but it can happen!

Whatever your reason for treasure hunting; whatever you are searching for, you are sure to find a few surprises along the way! Treasure hunting is truly a hobby for anyone to enjoy.

Long time with no post

Well, it was a long time since my last post. I just count all my finds and compare it with my last reported stake. Since my last post, me and my treasure hunters found 0.75 HRK and 2.20 EUR. Biggest find is 2.00 EUR coin that my dad made sometimes in November. Now I have 64.45 HRK, and 2.90 EUR. I can sell found euro coins for about 20.00 HRK which is really great. I also have one used phone card that I found back in September. I think that maybe I could sell it to some collector. I also found one plastic bottle back in August. Unfortunately, I don't have it anymore as my wife throw it in trash.

Will continue to look for lost treasures for my DYWTAM Project. I decided that this will be my strategy for this Project. I could call it treasure hunting, I guess.

Weak October

October turned out as weak month regarding found money. I found only 0.70 HRK. Only event that make it somewhat better was my dad's find of 0.70 EUR that he gave to DYWTAMP. I could get about 5 HRK which will be great addition to stake money.

At the beginning of this month I also tried to buy some stuff through online auction site in order to resell them for profit. I lost both auctions, but in any way that represent the beginning of new activities in DYWTAMP, aside of finding lost money.

Hope November will see larger increase of DYWTAMP funds.

Lost Both Auctions

Well, I didn't have success with my auctions. Both items went for prices I couldn't afford with my current stake money. I keep on looking on other auctions. Hopefully will find something.

At least I found 0.20 HRK during my walk.

Made My First Bids On Auction For DYWTAMP

Today is a great day. :) I finally found two items on one local auction site that I felt comfortable enough to make a bid. It is few hours till the end of auction and I will see if I will actually win the auctions. But if I do win them, it will be the first time in DYWTAMP that I will use some other strategy beside looking for lost money. I feel this is important milestone in DYWTAMP development.

End of September Results

September ended as second worst month regarding found money for DYWTAM Project. Here is a list of months with amounts of found money:

March 2009: 3.97 HRK
April 2009: 2.61 HRK
May 2009: 7.25 HRK
June 2009: 23.00 HRK
July 2009: 5.85 HRK
August 2009: 5.80 HRK
September 2009: 3.40 HRK

This list contains only found Croatian currency. If I add all funds added to DYWTAMP then the list is somewhat different...

March 2009: 3.97 HRK
April 2009: 2.61 HRK
May 2009: 7.25 HRK
June 2009: 23.00 HRK
July 2009: 5.85 HRK
August 2009: 15.30 HRK
September 2009: 3.40 HRK

August was a much better month comparing only to found Croatian currency, because in that month I exchanged euro currency I previously found.

Hope that October will be good month regarding DYWTAMP stake money.

Rules

Since I don't follow the exact Rules as laid out in the DYWTAM Report, I think it is interesting to post here the Rules I'm following.

Rule 1. You must find the first coin. You must not use your own money.
Rule 2. You must use only the stake money during the current doubling attempt.
Rule 3. During the first fifteen steps you must use the actual coins and notes gained in the preceding step.
Rule 4. If your current step results in more than doubling, then you must carry the surplus onto the next step.
Rule 5. If your current action results in less than doubling, then you may use as much of the original stake and profit to complete this step.
Rule 6. You must keep a diary of events.
Rule 7. Don't worry about how you are going to manage future doublings. Concentrate only on the current doubling.
Rule 8. You're not allowed to spend one cent of the money (apart from as a stake) until you complete all steps. Then it's all yours.
Rule 9. You must not divert money into the system which you would have got anyway had you not been doing the system.
Rule 10. You must use only the stake money, and not 'stolen' or 'hidden' resources.
Rule 11. If you 'fail' on a step, you must drop down the 'snake' until you arrive at the step represented by your remaining money - and start again from that step.
Rule 12. You are allowed to add your labor.
Rule 13. Use the stake money to create a value which you can sell for more.

Basically, they are very similar to original Rules, and majority of Rules are actually the same as original Rules. When I started DYWTAM Project I tweak only two Rules - Rule #1 and Rule #4. In my own Rule #1 I allowed to find any amount of money not just the smallest amount. And in my own Rule #4 I made it obligatory to carry over any surplus to next Step.

Since I started this Project in March 2009, I didn't brake any rule. And that is very important to me, to stick to the Rules as I laid them to me at the beginning of the Project.

September finds

September was not that great regarding finding money for DYWTAMP stake. Till now I found 2.90 HRK in September. That makes September second worst month since I started DYWTAMP. The worse was only April with only 2.61 HRK found. I still didn't start any other strategy for DYWTAMP. I look at online auctions but couldn't find anything that I could resell for profit. Will keep on looking.

Nothing much to report. Made few finds and increased my stake further. Step 10 Completed!!!

Today I completed Step 10! I went to my bank and exchanged 1.30 EUR coins that I found in DYWTAM Project and got 9.49 HRK. Additionally, bank clerk round up the amount and pay me 9.50 HRK (she overpaid me for 0.01 HRK). That increased my Stake to 55.23 HRK and it catapulted me to Step 11.

It is 170th day since I started DYWTAM Project, and 58th day of Step 10. I feel it is a great success I manage to reach Step 11 doing nothing else but finding lost money. Maybe in Step 11 I will finally find something else to do with my Stake.

Another victory for me is the fact that I stayed in my doubling project for four and a half month. I manage to stick to this Project, and to follow initially determined rules (which I also find important). This is 4th or 5th doubling project I started and never before I stick to the project or to the Rules so long. I find that pretty amazing and it fills me with happiness.

Back from vacation

I get back from vacation in August 10th. I had great time there. And it wasn't that bad for DYWTAMP. We manage to find 1.90 HRK and 1.21 EUR. Euro find will be added to the stake once I exchange it for Croatian kunas. It is about 8.50 HRK, so I'm quite happy about that euro find. With euro finds I will be able to complete Step 10 of DYWTAMP. Not bad at all.

Since I get back from vacation I manage to find one coin of 0.10 HRK.

0.20 HRK find

Today I found 0.20 HRK on the children playground in our neighborhood. I found lots of coins on this playground since I'm looking for lost money. Seems it is one of those money spots.

Tomorrow (well, actually today) I'm traveling to my summer vacation. Again, we go to one small Croatian island. We have a plane at 11:00 AM. I'm curious to see if I will be able to find some lost money while I'm on vacation. There will be lots of tourists with lots of chances to lose some coins. I'll be there to find them. :)

Slow July

It seems July will not be even close to June in the amount of found money. Till now we found 3.45 HRK this month. It bring the DYWTAMP's stake to 40.28 HRK. Nevertheless, with this amount in stake money, it seems that 50.00 HRK (how much is needed for completion of Step 10) is well within my reach.

I go to summer vacation next week. Maybe I will find some money there as well. Since there are many foreign tourists where I'm going there is good chance for finding some foreign currency as well.

Step 10 - New finds for July

Made two new finds since July started. In total of 0.60 HRK new funds for DYWTAMP. It seems to me that I will be able to complete Step 10 only by looking for lost money. After that it will become very slow and hard to complete further steps just with found money. I will probably in that time start to look for some other strategy.

New Record

On June 25 we made a new record for DYWTAMP. We went to the downtown and have great time. We went to one of several newsstands to buy something and my wife found 10.00 HRK banknote there. It is our biggest find in DYWTAM Project and also it is the first banknote for DYWTAMP. June is also the best month since we started DYWTAMP back in March. In March we found 3.97 HRK for DYWTAMP. In April it was 2.61 HRK and in May 7.25 HRK. In June we found 22.50 HRK and there are still three days till the end of month.

Step 10

I completed Step 9 on June 21 with nice find of 1.30 HRK. Yesterday I made my first find in Step 10. This Step could be easily completed with two coins of 2 euro, and it seems there are more and more euro coins in our streets. I know of a few hot spots where euro coins are often found. This will be my strategy for Step 10. And I'm thinking to take all plastic bottles I could find around.

Step 9 - Nice progress

Last few days were very successful in finding lost money. My wife made the majority of finds mainly at her work near vending machines. This month is also our record month in finding money since I re-started DYWTAMP on March 1. If we continue with this pace we will complete Step 9 this month. I'm very satisfied with that. Maybe Step 10 will be the step where I will finally start to apply some other doubling strategy aside of finding lost money.

Step 8 - Biggest Find So Far

Yesterday I made biggest find so far in DYWTAM Project. I found one 1.00 HRK coin and two 0.05 HRK coins. This is my third 1.00 HRK coin so far. Still didn't found 2 and 5 HRK coins so far in new DYWTAMP.

I'm thinking to include EUR coin I found a month ago in my total balance. If I decide to do that I will use foreign exchange rate for EUR from Croatian Central Bank. I noticed that there are more and more EUR coins to be found on the streets, so it might be good idea to count them as well. I will have to change official currency of DYTAMP to EUR anyway, once Croatia becomes part of EU and part of Eurozone.

Maybe Step 8 will be the Step where I will finally start using stake money for master strategy in doubling, i.e. as Rule 13 says "Use the stake money to create a value which you can sell for more". Well, now my only worry is to get my stake to 12.80.

Found Money Aficionado

Today I found an interesting web page about found money aficionados...

Found Money

This one page took me to several blogs of found money enthusiasts like ChangePot and MoneyWalker. Seems like those guys are very similar to doublers, just that found money searchers don't have steps, structure and goal of reaching to the million. This few blogs got me thinking am I really a doubler or am I really found money searcher. The fact is that I always enjoy the most in the first few steps where I can look for money and feel the joy of finding it lost somewhere. The part when I had to start trading and do something with it always lead me to lost interest and abandon doubling in the end. Every time I found a coin again I start doing doubling again. Seems to me that the joy of finding the money is something that attracts me to doubling, and not the doubling itself. So I really think I am a found money aficionado. It took me more than two years to figure out. Well, it's better later than never. :)

My current pot of found money is 6.08 HRK and 0.10 EUR. I think I will open new blog to document my found money adventures.

Found another 0.50 HRK while shopping with my wife and daughter. Till now I applied only strategy of looking for lost coins for progressing through DYWTAMP. I should start looking for other things to do, because found money can push me maybe through Step 7, but I'm getting to the levels where this strategy is no longer the best way to double money.

BTW, I started to learn playing Texas Hold'em Poker. I found site that teach me how to play Hold'em Poker profitably, and after I learned basic strategies I got $50 from them to play on online poker sites. This money is real, and once I clear them I can take money. But I plan to use that given starting capital to build my poker capital. And, once I play certain number of hands I'll get another bonus of $100 from poker training site. This is not deposit bonuses, but real free money for playing.

Step 6 Completed!

Woohoo! :) Step 7 is here. On March 30 I found 1.05 kn while I was on a nice and pleasant evening walk with my wife and my daughter. This gave me more than needed in Step 6 and per my rules I carried over the surplus to Step 7.

I started this Project on March 1, so it took me 30 days for first 6 steps. And I didn't do anything except finding money on the ground. I think I will now start looking for some other opportunities since I now have enough in my doubling Stake to buy something and try to resell it for profit.

I also made my first find of 0.20 kn for Step 7.

Slowly moving forward

Today I found new 10 lipa coin for DYWTAMP. I decided I will go slowly this time. No hurry, no rush. Will try to go through first several steps with finding money. Once I accumulate enough to invest in something I will go that way. Probably it will be some kind of reselling deal. It is very important to me that in this new DYWTAM Project I progress with finding money (since found money have some special magic in doubling method) and with using that found money in some way to progress further. However, as one of the rules said, right now my main concern should be to complete Step 4, and it's "only" 14 lipas away.

Found first money for my new DYWTAM Project

This evening I found my first 55 lipas (0.55 kn). They leapfrogged me right into Step 4.

I decided to change Rule #4. My version of the Rule #4 is:

I made that change to avoid unnecessary leakage of funds from DYWTAM Project, and to further my progress through steps.
